Pole & Tree Climbers

Climbers, pads, straps and guards matched to the pole or tree, the worker and the job.

Climbers are the most specification-sensitive products we make. Gaff length is chosen for what the crew climbs — shorter for softwood and creosoted distribution poles, longer for hardwood and living trees — and shank length is adjusted to the individual's leg. We manufacture climbers, pads, straps and guards as a matched set.

Shanks are adjustable steel, formed and heat-treated in house. Gaff length, shank range, pad type and applicable standard [CONFIRM PER MODEL] are set at quotation.

Selection notes

Match gaff type to the pole: a pole gaff in a living tree will not hold, and a long tree gaff in a hard distribution pole is difficult to set. Fit shank length to each climber individually, and always guard gaffs in transit.

Sharpening

Gaffs are resharpened to our gauge and template, never freehand, and replaced once worn past minimum length. We supply gauges and replacement gaffs.
